APPLYING 101When you join, please join with only your character's first name, in lowercase. Once you have joined, you can then change your profile name to your character's full name, all in uppercase. Please do not use any punctuation or symbols. Example: ANNA EVANS, not anna evans, or Anna Evans. Also, do not use the same name as your character's play-by. Example: the play-by Jessica Alba is played by Anna Evans. You can have as many characters as you want, but please make sure to be active with all of them! If you cannot handle many characters, then don't overwhelm yourself. Do not have more than one character per account. Please keep in mind any gender bans (if there is any) when you are joining. Genders that are banned will obviously not be accepted until the ban has been lifted. Please make sure to register your accounts as well, so that you get updates and important notices.

GRAPHICS NOTICEPlease post your application within a week of joining the site. If you do not do this, and you haven't posted in the absence board, you run the risk of having your character's profile deleted. Obviously if you posted in the absence board and told us that you were going away, then we would keep your character profile on here, unless you never returned. You must wait until your application is accepted before you start role playing. If you have any questions about the application form, do not hesitate to PM the admin or co-admin accounts. We are here to help you out. I do not care how you put your character's name if you are posting in the pending section. But when you post your application in the completed board - please make sure to put your subject line like this: LASTNAME, firstname. Example: EVANS, anna. This keeps everything neat and organized. After you post your unfinished application, you have 14 days to finish it or your character will be deleted. If you post in the absence board or let either the admin or co-admin know that you cannot make that deadline, we will extend your time.

ACTIVITY LEVELSThere is a maximum size of avatars on the side: 150 x 250 (pixels). Please do not go over this size, as the image will become distorted. If you need any help, PM one of the staff members and we will see what we can do. Do not stretch the boards with your images. Signatures and any images that you post in a board cannot be any wider than 500 pixels. This is a decent sized picture, and if you end up posting anything bigger, you will be warned to change it. Please no nudity in your pictures, remember this site is only PG-13. You are required to have an avatar and a signature, there are lots of image sites out there so it shouldn't be too hard to find some pictures to use.

ROLEPLAYING 101We will probably be holding an activity check every one to two months. But we ask that you log on at least once a day, if you can. Obviously we understand that you all have lives and Southern Comfort might not come first. But please try to be as active as your schedule allows you to be. Don't post once and then come back two months later, complaining that nobody is posting with you. People often do not want to get into a thread with someone who isn't around much, so keep that in mind. If you are going to be away for a while, or not as active as you normally are, you can post in the absence board, because it's easier to keep track of the absences in there. If you have multiple characters, make sure that you log into all of their accounts - logging into just one account will not do.

I am going to set a minimum word count to 200 words per post. We understand that people have off days/low muse - that's fine. But if you are chronically posting below 200 words, then you will be warned. If you need some help or suggestions with posting at least 200 or more words, just ask either the admin or co-admin, we can help you out. There is a spellchecker that you can use before you post, and I suggest using it. There is nothing more painful than reading through a post someone made and having to figure out bad spelling errors throughout the whole post. Be considerate of the people you are posting for. Since the site is rated PG-13, please do not get too graphic in your posts. When dealing with a sex scene, just fade to black, it is the safest way instead of getting too into detail. The admin and co-admin will be keeping an eye on things and if you start to get out of hand, you will be warned. Also, no chat speak in your posts - use proper, full terms, unless you are posting a text message.
THE OTHER RULES

Please respect the other players on Southern Comfort. Arguments are never comfortable for anyone to witness. I would really like to keep this a happy and relaxing place for people to come to. This site is rated PG-13. And remember at the end of the day - have fun!
