AND TELL ME THAT WE BELONG TOGETHER, and dress it up with the trappings of love * I'LL BE CAPTIVATED, I'LL HANG FROM YOUR LIPS- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anna wrapped her arms around her torso as she watched Emily and Zack climb up onto the bus to go to school. They were old enough to be going to grade school now, which was just scary in Anna’s opinion. She had missed out on so much of her kids’ lives already, time was just going way too fast for her liking. She wished that she had been there for their first bus ride, to be there to wave them on, but unfortunately she hadn’t been here then. In fact, Anna had been taken away from her family – ripped right away from them, with no way to communicate where she was. It had been terrible, getting taken away and brought to Mexico. Dirty and terrible things had been done to her, some of which still scar her body and always will. Anna has only been back in her family for about six months. She was a completely mess when she finally managed to get back to Southern Comfort Island. She had escaped from her cell in Mexico, and then she hitch-hiked her way back home. But coming home wasn’t as easy as she thought it would be. She went to her home that Kaze and her kids were living in, and she spotted divorce papers on the kitchen table. It had been enough for her to run away – heading to a nearby motel and spending quite a long time there. Not only was she trying to gather up the courage to face her family again, but she also had a lot of mental, emotional and physical problems that had to heal. Anna was in the motel for about a year or so, before she finally got caught taking some of her clothes from her closet in her and Kaze’s bedroom. She was caught in the act, and because of that she had to fess up and explain what had happened.
Looking back on the whole thing, Anna felt her cheeks warm at just the thought of it. She had been a complete idiot, but in her defence she hadn’t really been thinking. She had just been through a very traumatic year in Mexico, and she had reacted quickly – and obviously not in the best way. She just reacted on her emotions, which were very high at the moment and very strained. But if she had to go through all of that again, she would make sure that she wouldn’t mess up like she had. She would go straight to her family, instead of trying to heal on her own. Screw divorce papers, Anna wouldn’t let something like that stop her. Even if Kaze did divorce from her, the kids were hers too – so they would have to work something out. Anna would have to talk to him and explain what had happened no matter what. He deserved that much. So now that Anna had been living in the house again with her family, they are all just trying to live with one another. It’s strange, because it’s not like the same as what Anna remembers. She almost feels like an outsider – although Kaze is starting to get better now. Anna didn’t expect him to forgive her right away and just pretend that nothing happened. That wasn’t life – you just didn’t forget about traumatic stuff, she should know. No, they all had to find a way to deal with it, and now that Anna is back she is pretty big on communication. Lack of communication is what put her in this awkward position before, so why repeat that again? Anna was not going to do that, if something bothered her she talked it out with Kaze. She hoped that he would start doing the same thing – communication is the best way for them to get over this together.
That was the key part to all of this healing: together. Anna couldn’t do this on her own, and she didn’t want Kaze or the kids to do it on their own either. The kids weren’t as bad as Kaze, because they had been pretty young when Anna was taken away… Either way it was a messy situation that haunted and plagued Anna from the moment she rose her head off of the pillow in the morning, to when she finally put it back down to try to sleep. But Anna was determined to turn her life around. She was back in school, at the college, to get training to become a chef. That had always been Anna’s dream job – own her own restaurant and be the main chef there. So that was what she was doing. She didn’t want to go back to bartending, it was a job that didn’t have much security and she had her kids’ futures to keep in mind. Anna wasn’t going to be unsupportive, she wanted to help out financially and she would – as soon as she could. The school program wasn’t too long, it was only a year if she kept on the fast track program that she was in. That meant that she went for three semesters, only one week off per semester. But she was determined to do this, and because of that simple fact, she was going to get it done. Turning around, Anna walked back up the driveway. Kaze was at work, or wherever he went to during the day. Anna was a bit tired of always asking him what he was doing for the day, she felt like she was annoying him. She wasn’t trying to, she was just curious. But he had every right to be short with her, so she didn’t say anything about it.
Opening up the front door, Anna disappeared into the house, locking the door behind her. It was something that she did out of habit now, she really didn’t have much faith in this neighbourhood anymore. Which sucked for her kids, because when they got older, she would have a hard time letting them out of her sight. Oh well, Anna had a while before that day was upon her. Walking into the kitchen, Anna made herself a cup of coffee from the coffee maker. It was part of her morning routine. Normally she would have gotten the kids all settled and then gone out for a run, but that… didn’t happen, not since she had been taken. Swallowing painfully, Anna closed her eyes for a moment. She wrapped her small hands around the mug and focused on the here and now, which really did help her out when she was getting overwhelmed by her memories. Once she regained composure, Anna opened her eyes and took a sip of the coffee. It cheered her up, the coffee, and it also gave her focus on the day ahead of her. She had a few assignments that she had to do on the computer, for her class. And today was Friday – which meant that it was date night for Anna and Kaze. Anna sighed, wondering just how that was going to go. She expected a very quiet, and awkward silence to hang over them, but she had to hope for the best. Walking into the living room where her computer sat, Anna turned it on and then put the mug of coffee down on the desk. She sat down and got to work, finishing up both assignments well before they were due. She didn’t want to get behind, and whenever she had the time to do something, she made sure to try to get it done.
Once her assignments were done, Anna glanced at the time. She had about an hour or so before the kids came home. She had no idea if Kaze would be back by then or not, so she quickly gathered up her purse and keys. She would do some grocery shopping, and make sure that she was home to get the kids off of the school bus. She didn’t expect them, nor want them to be home alone at such a young age. Getting up from her computer chair, Anna stretched – reaching her arms up high and then bending down to touch her toes. She missed running, it’s true. This particular stretch bought back fond memories, but it also brought a chill to her bones that no sweater or blanket would ever get rid of. Anna wasn’t quite sure if she was okay to start jogging around yet, and because of that, she was working out at the gym. She had renewed her old gym membership and she just stayed there, for now. But Anna was one of those people that enjoyed a change of scenery when she was working out. Staying stationary was so boring it made the work outs seem even longer than they actually were. But Anna was pretty determined, and active, and she would stick with the gym thing until she felt that she was ready to go back to the roads. Heading to the front door, Anna grabbed her light sweater and she pulled it on. Even though it was spring now, the days were slightly cool from time to time. Unlocking the door, Anna walked down the driveway just as the bus rounded the corner. They were a bit earlier than usual, but Anna wasn’t concerned. As the bus slowed by their driveway, Anna smiled as she saw Zack and Emily’s little heads bobbing as they moved down the aisle to the now opened door.
Anna’s smile widened as Emily raced over to her, her usual greeting, and wrapping her arms around Anna’s hips. Anna giggled, kissing the top of Emily’s head. She then looked up at Zack and smiled. He had had the hardest time adjusting to Anna’s return, much like his father. But he was getting better, and as he neared her, he reached up to hold her hand. Anna smiled and held Emily’s hand with her other hand. “So how were your days?” Anna asked the usual question, and she was met by an onslaught of comments from both Emily – and now Zack. He used to be rather quiet around her, but Anna had persisted and now he was talking much more. And he was more willing to stay in her presence now too. Nearing the front door, Anna opened it up and let her kids walk in first. She then kicked off her shoes and took off her sweater, hanging it up on a peg on the wall. She followed Emily and Zack into the kitchen. She smiled as they put their backpacks down near the door, and then they sat in their chairs. Anna always made them an after school snack, even if she wasn’t here, she would leave it on the counter with a note. Going into the fridge, Anna opened up the door, Anna pulled out a plate of sliced up celery sticks that she had cut up earlier. She grabbed some peanut butter from the cupboard and carried the food over to the table. Emily was busy talking about her day still, and Anna had to smile at Zack’s impatient, eye roll. Sometimes he looked and acted so much like his father, it made Anna laugh. Once Emily paused for a moment to take a breath, Anna jumped into the conversation. “Sounds like quite a busy day Emily. How about we hear about Zack’s day now?” Zack used to shrink away whenever Anna did something like this, but he was getting more used to it now.
While the kids snacked away on the celery sticks and peanut butter, Anna leaned against the counter and listened to what Zack had to say. She smiled, enjoying the moment. When the conversation lulled, Anna decided to jump in again. “Alright you two – there is going to be a babysitter with you tonight, for dinner. Your dad and I are going out for dinner tonight.” Anna watched their faces. Zack shrugged, which was a typical response from him, and Emily started asking about the babysitter. Anna wasn’t quite sure if Kami was going to come over or not. If he wasn’t, they did have one babysitter that Kaze trusted with his kids. “I don’t know who it is just yet, Em. Your dad is arranging that.” Anna watched as Zack excused himself to go play with some of his toys, and Emily said that she was going upstairs to do some colouring. Anna cleared up their mess from the table and then she too headed upstairs. Going into the master bedroom, Anna opened up the door and looked around. This used to be her favourite place in Kaze’s house, before she had been taken to Mexico. Now it was just a place full of coldness and tension, in Anna’s opinion. She had no idea what was going through Kaze’s head, but she hoped that one of these days he would come around… she really didn’t know how much longer she could live like this. Going to her closet, Anna rummaged around with her dresses until she found a very elegant, but simple, black dress. She wasn’t sure where they were going, again that was up to Kaze since he told her he had made the reservations. But this dress would be appropriate in any restaurant on the island. Hooking the dress on the open door, Anna shut the bedroom door.
She quickly got undressed and then headed into their personal bathroom. She took a quick shower, keeping the door open a crack so that if the kids needed her, she would be able to hear them. Normally she would wait until Kaze got home from school, but it was starting to get late now and she wasn’t sure when he would be home. He could take a lot less time to get ready than Anna could. Once she was finished showering, she toweled herself off with a fluffy towel, and then she wrapped it around her torso, tucking it so that it didn’t fall down. Going into the bedroom, Anna quickly got dressed, and slipped the dress on. She could wear it for a few hours without spilling anything on it, she was very careful about stuff like that. Once she was dressed, she hung the towel up on the back of the bathroom door and then she walked out of her bedroom. She checked on Emily and Zack, and both of them where in their rooms – playing or colouring quietly. Anna walked back to the bathroom and blow dried her hair and then began straightening it. Once she was finished with that, she ran a brush through it and then put some hair spray on. She then got to work on her face, cleaning, moisturizing and then applying a light covering of foundation and a bit of eye shadow. She finished the look off with some light lip gloss, keeping everything light and almost nude in colour. Once that was all done, Anna walked out of the bathroom and grabbed a pair of high heels that would go with her dress. She then walked downstairs and put the shoes near the door. Heading into the kitchen, Anna looked around for something to make for the kids’ dinner. She didn’t want to leave that up to the babysitter, whomever it was. Anna just did this purely out of habit now.

I CRY WHEN ANGELS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - deserve to die It was a rule and Kaze was a strict and stubborn fellow to abide by it; he would not wake up before noon. That was it. No if’s, and’s, or but’s. his work knew that too but sometimes Kaze just had to wake up before noon. AT eight he woke up today and in a pissed off mood too. Who wouldn’t be after waking up four hours before he usually did. By that time, Anna was sleeping in the bed. Sure, they slept together but nothing else had happened. Kaze didn’t wrap his arms around her as much as he usually did, he didn’t snuggle or kiss or any other extracurricular activities. Nothing at all. It just felt a little odd doing anything with her. They were growing apart, but deep down, Kaze didn’t want that to happen so they both agreed to try to make things better. Friday was date night; to eat together and try to make things work out. Kaze was both displeased and excited at the same time about this. Looking down at Anna, Kaze sighed before making his way to the bathroom to change and shower. Scrubbing himself down and stepping out, the man got dressed in his normal attire before exiting the room. Emily and Zack were already at school, something that Kaze didn’t see much now that he tried to sleep in as much as possible. His job wasn’t easy. Both jobs weren’t. He was lucky to get four hours of sleep. So Anna took care of the kids, awesome. Making himself some breakfast, just some scrambled eggs on some toast, since he was feeling lazy, Kaze ate and left; hopping into his car with the egg sandwich in his mouth and drove off to work. He tried not to think of what would bring him today, he just tried not to. He didn’t want to think of his marriage falling apart, he just didn’t. Now it was work time and work was going to be the only thing on his darn mind.
Once he got into the building and hung up his coat, a fellow officer rushed to him and talked to him; telling him of the crime that was committed and that he had three evidence bags to look at. With a sigh, Kaze walked into the biology department of the station and sat on his desk. Booting up the computer, Kaze smiled a bit when his co-worker got him a glass of coffee; since she knew Kaze was a sore bug in the mornings before noon, “Thanks, Margret.” Kaze mumbled, giving her a little eye roll before taking the coffee and sipping it. She was used to his behavior recently so didn’t mind the slight rude persona. She returned to her desk and started working just about the same time Kaze did. Hours upon hours passed and when it was break time, Kaze left, grabbed a sandwich from the gas station some miles down the road, ate while driving back to the police department, and soon sat in his seat. Oh yeah! The babysitter. He grumbled as he cursed his mind for thinking about today. He didn’t want to but apparently his mind had other plans. Great. “Come on, pick up, bro.” Kaze mumbled as he called his brother. After three rings it went to voicemail and Kaze sighed, angrily. Just as he put the cell down it vibrated on the table. Picking it up and seeing the name “KAMI” on it, Kaze answered, “Yeah bro.” Kami said that he was sorry, little Noah made a mess in the kitchen and he was finishing cleaning up, “I guess you’re too busy then. Talk to you later.” Kami intervened and Kaze continued, “Well, I just called to see if you would babysit my kids today. You know today’s date night for us. If not, it’s cool man. I know being a single father is-… Well fine then. See you later.” Kami knew the drill and though he was suffering from a mild case of depression, he knew that Kaze’s kids would make him happy. He couldn’t and wouldn’t refuse taking care of them.
Hanging up the phone, Kaze sighed. His mind once again thought about his family… He hated when it did it but recently, he had, even though he was trying to shut it off. Kami had it rough, Kaze shouldn’t be complaining. Maybe he should just suck it up and forgive her? Though she ripped him a new one by killing his trust; which was a huge deal to Kaze. Nonetheless, Kaze sighed and took a moment to think of what was to come today. After some moments of contemplation, Kaze put his cell away and immediately started to begin his evidence check. After some more hours, Kaze wrote down the chain of evidence and carried the finished bags with the reports stapled to the back of them to the big outside by the front desk. “I’ll see you Monday.” Usually Kaze had Friday’s off, but recently he has been working them to try to get some cases finished. For rape alone, there was a two year wait for results. Kaze, despise his nature and how he acted, wanted to help people. Little did he know he failed to help himself. It didn’t take him long to get home. When he did he shut his cars engine and stared at their bedroom window for a moment before walking to the front door and opening it. He didn’t bother to announce that he was home. When he closed the door, Zack heard it “Dad’s home!” He proclaimed and got up, dropping his markers and running downstairs, “Dad!” “‘Ey there little monster! Oo come here!” He said, bending over a bit to pick up Zack and give him a good ‘ol bear hug. Putting him down he soon saw his little girl walk towards him, “‘Ey princess. Did you two have fun at school?” “We already told mommy that story.” Kaze dimmed his eyes a bit, “Well that’s mommy and not daddy. I didn’t hear it/”
As Emily told him what happened to her day, Kaze smiled a bit, “That’s cool. Can’t wait to see what you made.” Taking his shoes off, Kaze purposely ruffled Zack’s hair to annoy him before making his way back upstairs, though stopped by the kitchen, “Anne, I’m home.” One word; Anne. Not two; An-na. It seemed that when he had a rough or stressing day, he indicated it with a nickname for his wife. Did she catch on? He didn’t know, nor did he care. “Kami said he’d babysit. Just give him some minutes to get the kids ready.” Kami’s kids. After all, he was a single parent and had no other help, so doing everything by himself was difficult, especially wit little one year olds running amuck. The kids returned back to their room and Kaze walked behind them, entering his own bathroom to just fix his hair up a bit before getting something else on. It was something simple. Just some dress pants and a buttoned shirt tucked in. Being a detective now, it was kind of normal attire for him. Close to a tux, but not quite. He hated fancy places but what could you do when you were trying to fix up your broken marriage? It took him some minutes to get ready before he walked downstairs. “Reservations at nine. Ready?” It was eight now so they had some time. After some moments; Kaze sitting on the couch, waiting for Kami and all, it was then that the man knocked on the door, “It’s open!” Kaze called and Kami walked inside with his two bundles of joy’s in his arms. “Here.” Kami said, handing the kids over to Kaze. Making a face, Kaze looked down at the kids looking back up to him. “Sorry I’m late. Jake was taking his brothers side and was throwing the Spaghetti O’s everywhere.” “You can take your kids now!” Kami made a face, his arms were tired, but nonetheless Kami took his kids back, “Though you’d like to hold them, sorry.” “You know the drill Kami. Emergency contacts are by the phone, medicine’s in the kitchen cabinet, foods in the kitchen, help yourself… And anything you want to buy on the TV is on me. Have fun.” Turning his attention to Anna, he sighed, “You ready to go?]b]” (WORDS): 1,460. (TAG): Anna Evans. (NOTES): Sorry it’s sh*t. My Kaze muse is crappy everywhere. AND TELL ME THAT WE BELONG TOGETHER, and dress it up with the trappings of love * I'LL BE CAPTIVATED, I'LL HANG FROM YOUR LIPS- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Things were hard in the Evans house right now. Tension, anger, disappointment, fear, and abandonment all circled around. Anna tried to keep the tension away from her kids, she really tried to remain normal in front of them. And she did a good job when Kaze wasn’t around. When Kaze was around, well… Anna used to just excuse herself from the room, go and do something else. But it was getting… easier now, she was able to stay in the room with him. He was making her feel so bad about her stupid choices. Yes, they had been stupid; she should have run right back to his arms. But the emotional and physical damage that had been done to her, really had screwed her up mentally and physically. She hadn’t really known what to do, and then spotting the divorce papers on the kitchen table… well that had just decided what she would do. So she had stayed away from Kaze. She had done a lot of healing during that time period and by the time she had gotten up the courage to go back to Kaze, the damage had already been done. She had to explain herself, which was only fair, but she really didn’t know how much longer she could deal with this. She had often thought about saying that she would live somewhere else, and come and take care of the kids when she can. Kaze is working two jobs now; and Anna knows that they are long and hard days. She doesn’t know exactly what he does because he never opens up to her now. He used to, all the time. They used to have long conversations. But now, it’s like most of their interaction is in silence and it’s driving Anna slowly nuts. Her main fear is that it will carry over to the kids and she doesn’t want that to happen.
Finishing off with her school work, Anna got the kids in from the bus and once they had their snack, they soon buzzed off to their rooms; do play with their toys or draw. The kids were very well behaved, and Anna loved it. She remembered being very unruly as a kid, giving her parents a hard time. But Emily and Zack were very well behaved. Looking around, Anna decided that she could get ready now. Time would speed up along and before she knew it, it would be time to leave. She wasn’t going to make Kaze wait long for her, even though she could… but she was trying to make it easier for him to forgive her, not harder. That was her goal, anyways. She wanted his forgiveness, and even if she moves away to live on her own, she would still want him to forgive her. She doesn’t want this carried to the grave, it wasn’t that big of an issue to do that with. But Anna was tired of arguing with Kaze. She wasn’t getting heard, and he was so stubborn about it… there was no point in trying to get him to see her side of the story. She had to just wait and see what he would do. Her problem was that she didn’t want to wait much longer. She has been back living in the house for a few months now, and she really doesn’t want to spend the rest of her marriage walking around on eggshells. She isn’t having fun, and to her, that should be the first thing a couple strives for: is to enjoy and have fun in the marriage. Now, maybe she should have more patience and just hang in there for the long haul. When she gets into these lows and doesn’t know what to do, she just thinks about her kids. She wants to fix this for her kids.
‘Dad’s home!’ Anna smiled as she heard Zack announce the obvious. Anna was happy that she was here to hear this exchange. Whenever the kids saw or heard Kaze come home, it was as if things had never changed… like it was just like old times. Standing near the fridge, she waited to hear Kaze talk. She liked hearing him talk to the kids, especially when he didn’t know she was there. His voice changed – he was kind… and full of love. Something she missed terribly. ‘Ey there little monster! Oo come here!’ Anna smiled, picturing Zack running into Kaze’s arms for that big bear hug, that she used to get. She wrapped her arms around her small frame, missing the feel of those strong arms wrapped around her protectively. She hasn’t had that touch in so long… she almost forgets what it feels like. ‘Ey princess. Did you two have fun at school? We already told mommy that story.’ Anna sucked in a breath, only imagining the change in Kaze as she was brought up. She unwrapped her arms and waited, listening to what would be said next. ‘Well that’s mommy and not daddy. I didn’t hear it.’ Anna picked up on a slight tone change, but she would have been able to see the difference in him more physically. As Emily yapped about her day to Kaze, telling her exactly what she had already told to Anna, Anna moved about the kitchen, trying to find something for the kids to eat for dinner. She didn’t know who was babysitting them tonight, but she knew that they were going out for dinner – one way or another. It was her only shot to try to make things right… to try to get back to what they had had before… although it couldn’t just be her trying to fix things.
‘That’s cool. Can’t wait to see what you made.’ Anna moved back to the fridge and opened it up. She pulled out a pot, figuring that she would make some spaghetti. It was something that both kids enjoyed, and it could be easily re-heated. ‘Anne, I’m home.’ Anna turned around, looking at the open doorway as Kaze appeared. She knew what the nickname meant; but it seemed that’s all he ever called her now. “Hey.” She said, refusing to say anything else at the moment. It bothered her; when he called her that name, but she wasn’t going to stay anything about it. ‘Kami said he’d baby-sit. Just give him some minutes to get the kids ready.’ Anna nodded. “That’s fine, I will make their dinner now.” Anna knew that Kami had his own kids to worry about, which is why she was going to make a bit heaping of spaghetti. She would make enough so that his kids could eat some too. Anna started the process, something that was effortless. She grabbed an apron from nearby and tied it on so that she wouldn’t get anything on her black dress. And then she got lost in the meal process, making it with as much care as she could muster. She put effort into the meals she made; especially when they were for her kids. If she was feeling better then she would put more effort in the meal for Kaze… but she just can’t separate her feelings like that. She used to make him a lot of food, but now she has really backed off with that… why should she be spoiling him when he can barely talk to her? That was what she missed the most – their conversations and when he held her in his arms. But dwelling on it wasn’t helping; clearly.
‘Reservations at nine. Ready?’ Anna turned away from the spaghetti, filling the kitchen with the sweet aroma. “Almost.” She glanced at the clock and almost rolled her eyes, they had an hour until nine, so she wasn’t worried. She was all dressed, all she had to do was finish cooking the spaghetti and then she would be ready to go. Time flew by when she was in the kitchen, because she always kept herself busy. When she was done making a meal she had a clean kitchen too. Because she alternated cooking and cleaning, so she could just sit and enjoy the meal when it was done. This meal was no different than any other. Bustling about the kitchen, Anna put the stove top on low heat just as Kaze hollered: ‘It’s open!’ She figured that it was Kami. Putting the wooden spoon down on the stove top, Anna turned it down even more, just to a simmer so that it would keep the pasta warm, but not cook it anymore. That way they could eat almost as soon as Anna and Kaze were gone. ‘Here. Sorry I’m late. Jake was taking his brothers side and was throwing the Spaghetti O’s everywhere. You can take your kids now!’ Anna rolled her eyes, wiping her hands off on a nearby towel. She then untied her apron and pulled it over her head, careful to not mess up her hair. Hanging it up on the peg near the doorway, Anna walked out and smiled at Kami. She watched as Kami took his kids back. “Hey Kami.” Anna smiled warmly at Kaze’s brother. Kami was always helping them out, whenever they needed it, even though he had his own kids to deal with.
‘Thought you’d like to hold them, sorry. You know the drill Kami. Emergency contacts are by the phone, medicine’s in the kitchen cabinet, foods in the kitchen, help yourself… And anything you want to buy on the TV is on me. Have fun.’ Anna listened to Kaze talking to Kami, and she grabbed her phone and her clutch, making sure that she had everything that she needed. Anna’s bristled as Kaze sighed, and she knew that he was going to talk to her now. It was as if it was too much work for him to talk to her, he didn’t want to – it was like a chore to talk to her. ‘You ready to go?’ Anna turned around and put on a smile, one that she hoped wasn’t too fake looking. He would see right through it, but at this point she was so annoyed she didn’t really care. “Yes I am.” She wanted to ask him if he thought that she looked ready or not, but sarcasm would probably not go over well with him at the current time being. “Thanks again Kami for helping us out. Help yourself to the spaghetti on the stove – I left the burner on, but it’s turned down low.” She would often do this, make a meal and then let Kami finish cooking it. Turning back to Kaze, Anna was about to ask who was driving when she just pulled out her car keys from her clutch. She wasn’t going to argue with him. Not saying a word, Anna walked out of the house. She headed to her car, and unlocked it. She opened up the driver’s side door and slipped in behind the wheel. No, she wasn’t acting like an adult, but for once she would like a break from Kaze.
She didn’t know if Kaze was talking to Kami or what, but he finally emerged from the house. Tapping her steering wheel in annoyance, Anna started up the car and buckled up. She just wanted to get through the dinner and get it over with, and then she would recalculate her actions. Once Kaze was in the car, she backed down the drive and turned on some music, to fill the silence around them. Driving down the road to Alouette Restaurant, Anna pulled into the parking lot. She parked the car somewhat close to the building, as close as she could get at this time of night, considering it was Friday. Putting the car in park, she unbuckled and shut the engine off. She grabbed her clutch from the console and then she stepped out into the brisk night air. It was spring, but the nights still cooled off and sometimes had quite the nip to them. ‘I should have grabbed my jacket…’ She thought in annoyance. She had been annoyed with Kaze when they left, so she had forgotten what she wanted to grab as a last minute choice. Anna didn’t bother to try to get a conversation going. That was how she always felt: she was always trying to get the conversation going, and she was always trying to keep Kaze in a good mood around her. She never did anything for herself, and it was wearing her down. It was wearing her down because nothing was changing between them. Kaze was just as surely as ever and she was trying to keep him happy and failing to keep herself happy in the process. Walking up to the building, Anna walked in and waited in line. It was so busy there was a line to talk to the people receiving everyone. She was happy that they had reservations, waiting at this time of night would be terrible.

The past was something that Kaze usually let go - either pretended it never happened or just grew up and ignored it. However there were some things in the past that Kaze just didn’t cancel out - he remembered. Like the fire, the horse riding, the car accident, the vacation, the hospitalization, the wedding, his brother’s wedding, Anna leaving him, his kids were born… Some things weren’t made to be forgotten. Kaze went to work, tried not to think, and did his job to the best of his ability. That was something he was terribly good at - and sometimes he suffered from it; i.e.; not sleeping or eating for a few days until he got the case closed. But oh well. Today was just not one of those harsh working days that he somewhat was starting to dread more and more. Kaze soon finished up his work and just decided to head on back home. He did make a little stop[ to get himself something to eat - just a small little sandwich to tie himself over. He was a man, he had a stomach like a black hole; so this was perfectly alright. Though on the drive home, Kaze somewhat didn’t wish to go home right now, but he had to. It was his job, his obligation, his promise. Things were going better with Anna but Kaze just had a hard time expressing himself to her these days. He missed the old days but he was unsure of if the present would go back to the past like that.
Getting out of the car, Kaze sighed. Yet another day returning home. Though this time it was Friday and thus, date night for the so called ‘married’ couple. Walking up the sidewalk to their porch, Kaze unlocked the door and soon opened it. Oh, he loved it when his children greeted him at the door and seemed to excited to see him. He hated kids, despised them, didn’t want them… But now he couldn’t imagine a world without them. They just completed him. Having a family did. When the kids greeted Kaze, he smiled - something he didn’t do much nowadays. Picking up Zack, Kaze asked how their day at school was. Since he picked up his second job, he wasn’t really the one to set them off to school anymore. He was away a lot of the time but nonetheless did it for a valuable reason. He wanted his kids to have the best lives they can - to have what Kaze didn’t. As Emily yapped away, Kaze listened to the key words in her little speech. So they made something in class. Well, he’d love to see what his little monster artists have made. After he got done with his kids was when he finally made his announcement to Anna that he was home. It wasn’t on purpose; he just forgot to announce himself for Zack just plumbed him. Putting Zack down, Kaze stretched a bit before sighing. Date night… It was happening. He was going to try to help make this marriage work… Somehow.
